Family Day Continues May 10 & 11

"A very special mixture of fantasy and folklore, adventure and affection.” -Los Angeles Times (read full review here)

The fun and inventive Ponyo, from Academy Award-winning Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, comes to the Gables Cinema on Saturday & Sunday, May 10 & 11 at 10:30 am each day. This version features the English-language voice cast, including Cate Blanchett, Tina Fey, Matt Damon, and Cloris Leachman. The film continues our series of family and youth screenings as part of Family Day on Aragon. From the "Walt Disney of Japan," Ponyo is an animated adventure about a five-year-old boy and his relationship with a goldfish princess who longs to become a human. When Ponyo’s wizard father finds out about her friendship, he gets angry and attempts to take her back to the sea. Recommended for kids ages 6 and up. Family Day on Aragon is in partnership with the Coral Gables Museum and Books & Books. Special ticket prices are $6.50 for children 12 and under with free popcorn & $7.50 for all others. Tickets are available in advance online for Sat. 5/10 here, Sun. 5/11 here, or in-person at the Cinema box-office during regular screening hours.

Join us for a special screening of the wonderfully warm and inventive animated film Ponyo and an introduction and Q&A from Dr. Andrew Baker, Assistant Professor of Marine Biology and Fisheries at the University of Miami. Dr. Baker will bridge the gap between science and art making marine biology fun and accessible for the little ones with a talk about underwater life, marine conservation, and the boundless ocean.
