Two Days, One Night

Belgium's Official Oscar Entry Opens 1/16

Masters of realism, brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne are back at the helm with Two Days, One Night, Belgium's Entry to the 2015 Oscars. Following a bout with depression, Sandra is about to return to work when she learns of a global predicament firsthand: her job will be a thing of the past, as the factory where she's employed downsizes. Because of a friend's insistence, she's given a temporary reprieve. The film's title pertains to the time afforded Sandra to convince her coworkers to forego an annual bonus so she can remain on the payroll. The Dardennes have fashioned a film about solidarity and personal growth infused with the suspense of a ticking-clock thriller and the payoff promise of a Hollywood feelgood movie. Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard (Edith Piaf in La vie en rose) is unforgettable as Sandra, a performance hailed as one of the year's best by Time Magazine and the New York Film Critics Circle. Stephen Holden of The New York Times calls it, "One of the top ten movies of the year."

France/Belgium, 95 min, 2K DCP, Dir. Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne, Rated PG-13 some mature thematic elements, French with English subtitles
