As an idealistic prosecutor (Aleksandr Kuznetsov) sets out to uncover the mistreatment of a subversive writer, imprisoned without evidence, he soon realizes that this is nowhere near the first incident of this kind under the Stalin regime.
Adapted from the novella of the same name by famous Soviet writer Georgy Demidov and directed by Sergei Loznitsa, the film tells a dark story of a dramatic Soviet past.
