Set in Geneva after the political upheavals of May 1968, Jonah Who Will Be 25 in the Year 2000 follows the lives of eight adults whose ideals, friendships, and political hopes are slowly tested by everyday reality. Teachers, activists, workers, and intellectuals search for meaning as they confront disillusionment, love, labor, and compromise. Their conversations and encounters reflect on the lingering impact of 1968 and on the possibility of passing on their ideals to the next generation—symbolized by Jonah, a child who will come of age in the year 2000.
